What is Art in Unity?

The purpose of this ministry is to enhance our spiritual life by creating and viewing art in many forms. With art, one can express, challenge, and deepen our appreciation and worship of God and of all Creation. Art in Unity leads members in the church and in the broader community to create and honor our creativity as an integral part of worship, discovery, and personal growth.

Art provides a way of connecting with God the Great Creator that goes beyond words. It can help us explore and open up other dimensions of our lives. Beauty in any form can give us a feeling of awe and wonder. And it can engage all our senses to help us be more deeply connected with God, with nature, with each other.

We envision Art in Unity to be not just a stand-alone ministry but to help connect the themes of the church through and by existing programs like youth groups, adult education, other ministries like La Comunidad or the Green Team. We also believe that opening the doors to the broader community and encouraging the participation of non-church members is an important part of the ministry especially in these times when the world is full of fear, anxiety, anger. Art can play an important role in uniting rather than dividing us.

Art in Unity programs lead members of our church family of all ages to create and share their art-making with each other as an integral part of worship and praise in our faith community.
