  • The Congregational Church of Middlebury, UCC seeks to offer weddings that bear witness to the Christian hope of a lasting, loving, and deeply committed relationship, while welcoming couples into a sacred space shaped by faith, history, care, and community. If you'd like to be married in our sanctuary, your first step should be to contact one of our pastors to schedule an initial conversation about your beliefs, schedule, and needs.


    Our pastors, Rev. Dr. Andy Nagy-Benson and Rev. Elizabeth Gleich are available to you for support and for planning of your ceremony. Wedding ceremonies in our church sanctuary would be performed by one of our pastors.

  • Located in the heart of Middlebury, Vermont, MiddUCC offers a beautiful historic sanctuary that seats up to 500 guests, with gathering and quiet spaces available for wedding parties before and during the ceremony. The sanctuary features an 1841 church bell and an 1862 William A. Johnson pipe organ, both part of the church’s rich history.


    Parking is available in the Seymour Street lot, along Seymour Street, and along North Pleasant Street. Accessible parking, ramps, accessible entrances, and an elevator are available. The church is close to downtown restaurants and lodging, which can be helpful for out-of-town family and friends planning to attend.

    MiddUCC affirms equal marriage rights for couples regardless of gender. We welcome couples who are seeking a ceremony grounded in love, faith, commitment, and belonging.


    A Beautiful Historic Setting

    Our sanctuary, completed in 1806, offers simple beauty, historic character, and room for both intimate and large gatherings. Little decoration is needed for the space to feel special.


    Pastoral Support Along the Way

    Couples can expect thoughtful pastoral guidance before the wedding, including an initial meeting, up to three pre-wedding counseling sessions, and a rehearsal before the ceremony.

  • No. Both members and non-members may inquire about weddings at MiddUCC, though fees differ for members and non-members.

  • Yes. MiddUCC is an Open and Affirming church and affirms equal marriage rights for couples regardless of gender.

  • Yes, decorations may be used in consultation with the Building Manager. Nothing may be attached to the walls without prior permission, and all spaces must be left as they were found. The throwing of confetti or rice is prohibited.

  • Wedding costs vary based on your ceremony needs and whether you are an active church member or non-member.


    Typical costs may include: a scheduling fee, facilities use fee, pastoral services, organist or other musician fees, AV support, and building manager support. An additional seasonal heating fee applies to Sanctuary events held from October 1 through April 30.

  • The first step is to contact one of our pastors to schedule an initial conversation about your ceremony, the space, and whether MiddUCC is the right fit for your wedding. After pastoral approval, couples should contact the Church Administrator at office@midducc.org or 802-388-7634 to complete a Wedding Ceremony Request; your date is reserved once your scheduling deposit and signed facilities use contract have been received.
