Weddings

To assure that your wedding is a meaningful and worshipful experience, we want to share with you a few suggestions and guidelines. You will find more information, including the fee schedule, in our wedding brochure.

  • service

The Congregational Church of Middlebury, United Church of Christ is an Open and Affirming church, and affirms equal marriage rights for couples, regardless of gender. It is our hope that your service will bear witness to the Christian hope of a committed, loving relationship.

If one of our pastors is able to officiate the ceremony, they will work closely with you to assure that it reflects your wishes. With the permission from the pastors, you are welcome to invite a minister of your choice to conduct the ceremony.

  • scheduling

To schedule your wedding, contact our Office Administrator, Jennifer Smith (802-388-7634). Please be prepared to tell her the desired date of your wedding and your contact information. Judy will forward the information to one of our pastors, Rev. Andrew Nagy-Benson or Rev. Elizabeth Gleich. They will then be in touch to arrange the first of three meetings with you.

  • music

In planning the music for your service, we urge you to meet with organist Jeff Buettner, to discuss his availability, possible musical selections, as well as the use of vocal soloists or instrumentalists you may desire.

  • decorations and photography

The church may be decorated to your taste, in consultation with the Building Manager, but the simple beauty of the worship space needs little adornment.

We ask your guests and photographer to be discreet when taking pictures during the actual service. Photographers may take photos from the balcony. If you want to return to the church for pictures after the service, this can be arranged.

  • Reception

The Fellowship Hall (beneath the church) is available for wedding receptions upon request. No alcoholic beverages are allowed.
