A memorial service, sometimes called a funeral or celebration of life, is a sacred gathering where family, friends, and community come together to remember, give thanks, grieve, and entrust a loved one to God’s care. It is for family, friends, the church community, and all who need space to remember, mourn, and be reminded that they are not alone. This special service reflects our belief in God’s inclusive love, the dignity of every person, and the promise that love is stronger than death; it offers comfort, meaning, and community at a tender time.
Planning a service can feel like a lot to hold, especially while grieving. Our pastors and staff will walk with you through the process, helping shape a service that honors your loved one and reflects your family’s wishes.
Together, we can discuss music, readings, worship elements, hospitality, and audio or video needs, including options for loved ones to participate virtually.
On the day of the service, we offer immediate family a quiet private space to gather before the service. Memorials are generally held in our historic sanctuary, which offers a beautiful setting for small gatherings as well as larger services for up to 500 guests.

The Board of Pastoral Care would be honored to host a reception for you and your loved ones in Fellowship Hall following the service. This time offers a place for family and friends to gather, share memories, and continue offering support to one another.
A light buffet may include ham salad and egg salad finger sandwiches, fruit, homemade cookies, and seasonally appropriate beverages. Simpler refreshments can also be arranged if preferred. The Board of Pastoral Care will handle the food, preparation, serving, and clean-up so that you and your family can be fully present with one another.
Memorial costs vary based on your needs and whether you are an active church member or non-member.
Typical costs may include: pastoral services, organist or other musician fees, AV support, building manager support, and reception costs. The fee schedule in the brochure below can be used as a general guide for initial planning purposes. Once your needs are known, our Church Administrator will reach out to you with a personalized list of fees for your particular service.
Families planning a memorial service may also wish to learn more about our Columbarium, a peaceful, landscaped place on the church grounds for remembrance and reflection. As a ministry of the church, the Columbarium offers a permanent place for the inurnment of cremated remains and for honoring loved ones within the life and care of the congregation. You can learn more about this option on our Columbarium page.
